Kerri is a Parelli 4-Star Natural Horsemanship Instructor (one of only 14 such instructors in the United States) and has been involved with instructing horsemanship for many years. A mother of four children, two of whom are dyslexic. She home schooled all four children for eight years. She was on the founding board of Rawson-Saunders School, Austin, TX. She was on staff at both Durango Mountain Camp in Durango, CO and Rocky Mountain camp in Evergreen, CO. Kerri was founder and director of Trails End Equestrian Center for fifteen years and is currently the manager/owner of Wolf Creek Guest Ranch, Fredricksburg, TX.

Kim Gehring, born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, at 20 years old, she joined the U.S. Army to expand her life experiences. After four years of serving in foreign lands she married a soldier and became a homemaker and raised their children both stateside and overseas. When their oldest daughter had trouble learning to read, Kim changed her college major to Education. She is passionate about wanting to understand why children, like her daughter, struggle to learn to read. Kim taught for 10 years in K.I.S.D., (Killeen Independent School District), before leaving the teaching field to open up a small business with her husband. She is looking forward to helping her students learn and practice important skills to aid them with their reading and writing.

Dr. Chris Distel is a biology professor at Schreiner University in Kerrville. His research deals with ecology and conservation, and his most recent work has focused on frogs, hummingbirds, and aquatic insects. He very much enjoys working with interested kids and sharing discovery in nature. He also helps to connect how science is (and isn’t) used in our understanding of species and their habitats. He is chair of Conservation Ecology in the Texas Academy of Science.

For ten years, she worked at Orton-Gillingham-based schools, i.e., the Kildonan School in NY and the Liberty School in Durango, CO, doing 1:1 tutoring and teaching subject matter classes designed for dyslexic learners. For the past four years, she worked as Palm Beach Day Academy’s Learning Specialist in West Palm Beach, FL. This upcoming year, she will be working with the Kildonan School again to help found a Florida branch of the school.
