AUDIO NAVIGATION
INSTRUCTIONAL DVD

DeKalb Video Productions is currently in production on an instructional DVD that demonstrates each of the above methods of Audio Navigation along with details on how to create each method. Sponsorship is currently being recruited. If a sponsor is not found, DeKalb Video Productions will publish this DVD themselves and sell it tentatively for $39 per copy. If a sponsor can be found, it is hoped that this DVD will be distributed free of charge.

This DVD can be used to demonstrate each of the described methods of Audio Navigation and hopefully expand the public awareness of this technique as well as it's use.

How will these methods be demonstrated?
Audio Navigation and Audio-Assisted Navigation will be demonstrated using Sonic Scenarist Advanced. It is expected that most viewers will not have Scenarist, so the creation of these methods will be done with an eye towards getting the fundamental concepts of each system across to the viewer. Scenarist works at the level of the DVD specification and has a highly visual graphical workspace making it easy to present these methods at a conceptual level rather than "do this, then this" on a particular authoring system. The two Simple Audio Navigation methods will be demonstrated on Sonic DVDit PE, a popular lower-level authoring system.

How much do I need to know about DVD authoring before viewing this DVD?
It is not the intention of this DVD to teach you how to use authoring software other than how to implement Audio Navigation. Before purchasing this DVD, the author should be familiar with their software. Authors who intend to implement Audio Navigation or Audio-Assisted Navigation should be intimately familiar with their authoring packages and be knowledgeable of the DVD specification as they will need to adapt the concepts to their authoring package.

If DeKalb Video Productions sells the DVD themselves, who will profit from it?
While we would love to produce this regardless, we are a small business and expect to be paid for producing this DVD. We will produce it for a pre-determined amount if a sponsor comes on board. Otherwise, we will take the risk ourselves and hope for the best.

Will this DVD play on my DVD player
This DVD will be authored on Sonic Scenarist (it is used for over 80% of Hollywood feature film DVD releases and creates the most compatible discs around), and will be replicated, not duplicated. Yes, it will play on your DVD player.

When will this DVD be available?
Nothing certain, yet. But expected release will be late spring, early summer of 2004.
